Supporting high quality sustainable growth in England

Aldershot

Aldershot is situated in the Blackwater Valley in Hampshire and  has a strong military history dating back to 1854. We are currently working with Rushmoor Borough Council, and Hampshire County Council to regenerate the town and develop the proposed urban extension.

A combined council and English Partnerships strategy is being developed  for Aldershot  which has three main inter-related elements which will:

  • revitalise the local economy
  • regenerate the Town Centre and gateways to the Town
  • reposition the Town within the Blackwater Valley.

Aldershot Urban Extension

We are currently exploring a range of options with Defence Estates to deliver the Aldershot Urban Extension (AUE) referred to in the Housing Green Paper. The AUE will provide much needed new homes in Rushmoor and the South East.

Our National Consultancy Unit  worked with Rushmoor Borough Council on the Supplementary Planning Document for Aldershot Urban Extension. The Public Consultation period for this draft document was undertaken earlier this year and the responses are being used to progress the work through to the next stage.   This more recent consultation built on the ‘Enquiry by Design’ public consultation previously organised by English Partnerships.

It is anticipated that once designs for the scheme are completed they will go on display for further comment and discussion.
